Much loved, slightly spoiled Himalayan Rabbits
Our rabbitry was founded in 2017 with the goal of developing a purposeful breeding program of Himalayan rabbits. We emphasize the whole rabbit: conformation to the breed standard as well as health, temperament, and the overall well-being of our Himalayans. As our slogan states, our rabbits are very much loved and probably more than slightly spoiled. All of our Himalayans live inside our home as part of the family. The bunnies live in spacious, solid floor enclosures and have daily playtime out of their pens. We produce just a handful of litters yearly and always with the intention of bettering the breed. April's History with Rabbits
In 1994 my parents allowed me my first pet: a large white rabbit I cleverly named Bunny. Bunny was a patient pet who tolerated a young girl doting on him, hugging him, carrying him around, and even once dressing him in doll's clothes. I have not been without at least one rabbit in my life since!
In 2003, I discovered that there were different rabbit breeds and even rabbit shows. With the support of my parents once again, I began competing in youth shows with Netherland Dwarf rabbits. I raised these until I went to college. I kept a few pets during my college years and decided to return to the show world in 2017. We have participated very minimally in shows due to our personal schedules, then the pandemic, and the spread of RHDV2.
When I decided to return to raising rabbits, I was drawn to the Himalayan for several reasons. Their small size without dwarf genetics, their elegant appearance, and the sweetheart personalities. I was able to bring home my first pair of Himmies from Round Hill Rabbitry in Maryland during the fall of 2017 and a second pair the following year. We can't thank them enough for helping us get a great start in the breed!
